Plates by American Illustrator Charles Dana Gibson, who created the Gibson girl, an iconic representation of the independent American woman at the turn of the 20th century. One plate reads, "She finds some consolation in her mirror." The other, "Some might think that she has remained in retirement too long. Others are suprised that she is about so soon." Sold as a set.
